Broad spectrum antimicrobial effect

Vandenbulcke K, Horvat LI, De Mil M, Slegers G, Beele H. Evaluation of the antibacterial activity and toxicity of 2 new hydrogels: a pilot study. Int.J.Low Extrem.Wounds 2006;5(2):109-14.

In the study described in this report, the antibacterial effects of Flaminal® and Flaminal® Hydro were confirmed in an in vitro as well as an in vivo setting.

Flaminal® and Flaminal® Hydro are fully active, in vitro, against

Gram negative bacilli
E coli
flaminal P vulgaris
flaminal E aerogenes
flaminal P Aeroginosa
Gram positive cocci
flaminal S epidermidis
flaminal S aureus
flaminal S pyrogenes
Yeasts
flaminal C albicans

In vivo data shows that by eight days after starting treatment with Flaminal® or Flaminal® Hydro the number of different types of isolated species decreased significantly.

Using the MTT test in cultured keratinocytes, toxicity was not observed with Flaminal® or Flaminal® Hydro.
