Flaminal® (Hydro)
antimicrobial mode of action

1
1
Bacteria enter the wound bed®
Flaminal® contains naturally occurring enzymes: glucose oxidase and lactoperoxidase

1
1
Glucose oxidase converts
glucose, water and oxygen
and creates peroxide ions

Lactoperoxidase binds with the peroxide to create reactive oxygen species

1
1
Lactoperoxidase containing the reactive oxygen species binds to the bacterial cell wall but does not bind to the human cell
Reactive oxygen species are created which kill the bacteria
